Graduation Week
Our Class of 2021 graduated last week starting with the Graduation Breakfast, followed by the Year 12 Graduation and Awards Assembly and Morning Tea which was very well attended by family and friends. We concluded the day with a beautiful Graduation Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral.
Logistically, a massive day which was only a success due to the many hours of planning and preparation before the day. A big thank you to Head of Year 12 Mr Mark Barron, Deputy Principal Senior School, Mr James Ramsey, Liturgy and Retreats Coordinator, Mrs Anita Finneran and all staff who were involved in the many aspects of Year 12 Graduation.
Let Us Pray
Dear God,
We pray for our graduates today and lift them before you. We thank you so much for these we love and for the work you are continuing to do in their lives. They are a gift to us and to many others. We ask that you would keep their footsteps firm and remind them that you are with them, always. May they sense the freshness of your Spirit over their lives in amazing ways, may they be strengthened, instilled with hope, for the new roads you have in store.
We pray for protection, for your covering, that you would surround their lives as with a shield. Protect their coming and going. We ask that you would help them to live aware in a dark world and keep harm or evil intent far away. We ask that you would hide them in the safety of your powerful presence.
We ask for your wisdom and clear direction over their lives, that you would give them understanding beyond their years. We pray that you would direct their steps, that your plans for them would prosper; that every place you have determined for them to walk would be paved clear. We ask for you to open doors that need to be opened and close every one that should be shut tight. Allow every gift and treasure you have placed inside their lives to grow, develop, and flourish, to bring you glory.
We ask for your peace to cover them. We ask for laughter and joy to fill their days. We pray that you would give them boldness and courage to face challenges set before them, with the confidence and peace that can only come from your spirit.
Be a lamp for their feet, and a light to their path. Shine over them. Fill them with your spirit. Bless them with your favour and peace.
We ask through Jesus Christ, Our Lord, Amen.

Year 9 Connections Retreat “Relationships - Self, Family & Worldâ€
“Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.†Romans 13:8
The Year 9 Connection Retreat took place on Thursday and Friday of last week. Students were engaged in various activities and quiet reflection over the two days encouraged and assisted by the Ministry Team. Thank you to Anita Finneran and Cheryl-Lynn Mothiram for the overall coordination and to all staff involved in engaging our Year 9 students throughout the Retreat.
Connection to Parish
Well done, AvÐÔ°® staff and students in supporting the St Thomas More Parish. Mrs Judy Machado, Religious Education Coordinator Bateman Catholic Parish, has been very appreciative of the support to the Parish.
Several AvÐÔ°® staff and students have contributed very generously to the Religious after school programme run by the Parish every Wednesday afternoon from 4.00pm to 5.00pm for major part of this year.
Ms Melanie Bird has trained young children doing dual sacraments of Confirmation and Reconciliation as well as the high school class. The Parish acknowledged that Melanie is the very heartbeat of the program and the giving of the time voluntarily to help develop the faith in our children is commendable.
I would also like to thank the following students were also involved throughout the year and have been assistants and helpers in the program:
Erika Machado Year 11
Sydney Sudiarko Year 11
Jack Mastelgia Year 11
Josh Laboudeuse Year 10
Declan Kartadinata Year 8
Luis Sudiarko Year 8
Paul Litherland - Parent Cyber Safety Presentation
Mr Paul Litherland from Surf Online Safe returned to AvÐÔ°® Christi College last week (Thursday 14 October 2021 from 6.30-8.00pm) to conduct an evening parent presentation on the subject of cyber safety. Paul is annual visitor to AvÐÔ°® Christi and has been visiting our school for 8 years.
He recently attended the school in April to talk with our Year 7, 9 and 11 students regarding the risks of the online world and how to stay safe in their online playgrounds.
Thank you to College Psychologists Mrs Rachel Goodchild, Mrs Luisa Rossi and Deputy Principal Middle School, Mr Simon Messer.
Missionary Disciples – October Pope Video
At work, with your family, with your friends, when you meet someone by chance… Any moment is suitable for being a missionary disciple. “If Christ moves you, if you do things because Christ is guiding you,†your testimony of life will make others ask, “What is the source of the love with which this person treats everyone—the kindness and good humour?†In this way, far from any form of proselytism, we can all be available for the mission, which is based, as Pope Francis says, on an encounter between people, on the testimony of life of men and women. “Jesus asks us all, and you as well, to be missionary disciples. Are you ready?

Class of 2022 Year 12 ATAR Course Commencement
On Monday 1 November the Class of 2022 commence their final year of study. This will be formalised on Tuesday 2nd November with the celebration of a Commissioning Mass for all Year 11 students. Year 12 ATAR courses start on Monday 1 November. Year 11 General and certificate courses will continue until the end of 2021. The final day for current Year 11 students is on Friday 3 December. We wish all of our Year 11 students all the best over the next twelve months. Please note that Year 11 students timetables will not change till 2022 so if students have withdrawn from an ATAR course or enrolled in a new ATAR course they will need to make an appointment with Mr Ramsey prior to the start of Term 4.
Year 12 Results Online
All 2021 WACE students with at least one scaled score, will be able to access their TISC Universities Admission Advice Letter information (including scaled scores, ATAR and eligibility information for universities for the 2022 admission year) via the TISC website at www.tisc.edu.au. Results will be available from Sunday 19 December 2021. The TISC office will be open on this day to answer enquiries.
University Offer Dates
The first major round of offers for Year 12 students will be available from Thursday 23 December 2021 with another major round of offers available on Thursday 20 January 2022. The application deadline for a small number of courses has passed, but applications for most courses are still open at www.tisc.edu.au, and will remain available until 19 December 2021 (for Main Round offers) and 14 January 2022 (for Second Round offers). TISC encourages applicants, particularly those sitting WACE examinations, to complete their applications as soon as possible to give themselves maximum flexibility when results are released.
Changing Preferences
Once they have applied, students may change preferences as many times as they wish, subject to closing dates, without incurring any extra charge. This year, applicants have only a short period of time following the release of Year 12 results, to reassess and rearrange their preferences for the Main Round of offers. Preference changes for the Main Round will close at 11.59pm on Sunday 19 December. TISC advises all 2021 Year 12 students to log in to the TISC website in the week leading up to results release, to ensure their user ID and password are working. There may be a high volume of calls and emails on the day of results release. Following the release of Main Round offers, it will be possible for applicants to change preferences until 11.59pm on Friday 14 January 2022, in preparation for the second major offer round. This time between offer rounds is an opportunity to seek advice from TISC and/or the universities if an applicant did not receive an offer or is unsure about their options.
ATAR Examinations
Note: for ATAR courses with practical components, students must complete both the written and practical examinations. Students need to ensure they take their personalised ATAR Exam Timetable to each of your Exams along with photo ID.
In the context of ATAR courses in the WACE, the term ‘complete’ requires that a student sits the ATAR course examination or, has an approved sickness/misadventure application for not sitting the examination in that course. Students who do not sit the ATAR course examination will not have a course mark or grade recorded on their WASSA, nor will they receive an ATAR course report.
If students believe that their examination performance is affected by a temporary sickness or unforeseen event then they should submit a sickness/misadventure application. An application form can be collected from the examination centre or downloaded from the SCSA website. The closing date for applications is 4.00 pm Tuesday 23rd November 2021. Students must post their applications direct to the address stated on the front of the application form.
Year 9 Retreat
Over Thursday 14 and Friday 15 October this, the Year 9 students took part in their AvÐÔ°® Connections Retreat.
Students rotated through activities that challenged them to:
find ways to address how the human family experience needs in different ways
recognise that the right to education is not met in some places in the world and for them to respond to this need and show gratitude for what they have in educational resources
discuss the concept of poverty and recognise why we need to look for ways to respond
engage in activities run by Youth Mission Team (YMT)
The students were actively engaged throughout all of the sessions over the two days and many reported how they enjoyed the activities.
I hope that each student was able to takeaway something from each of the sessions that would allow them to grow personally and spiritually, as well as increase their global citizen philosophy.
