Welcome to Week 10
Living Our Values
We gathered today as a school community to celebrate students living out our College Values and to commission our incoming 2025 Prefect team. We were pleased to welcome parents, caregivers, families and friends and thank them for engaging in this special occasion.
During the assembly, I reflected on what has been a busy but incredibly rewarding Term 3 and commended the broad number of students choosing to step forward and engage in the multitude of opportunities available both in and out of the classroom.
These students have demonstrated the capacity to:
Invest in the plethora of holistic learning experiences available at the College
Set ambitious goals
Positively involve themselves in the community
Be open to all experiences and challenges
Model Jesus through kindness and respect
Taking control of their own growth journey will stand students in very good stead for their future world. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) suggests that this concept of student agency is very important in enabling students to flourish and thrive. They say that:
“Student agency is the capacity to set a goal, reflect and act responsibly to effect change. It is about acting rather than being acted upon; shaping rather than being shaped; and making responsible decisions and choices rather than accepting those determined by others. It gives students the ability and the will to positively influence their own lives and the world around them.â€
The OECD also indicates that, when students are agents in their learning, they:
“Are also more likely to have “learned how to learn†– an invaluable skill that they can and will use throughout their lives.â€
During the assembly we celebrated those students who have demonstrated a high level of agency and lived out our values in a truly genuine way. The students were recipients of our auspicious Colours and Service awards which recognised their:
Courage to step forward, go beyond themselves to make a genuine difference and to move outside of their comfort zones to discover and learn.
Commitment to live out the ideals of our College, positively shape our community and represent our 40 year legacy with pride
Compassion in modelling Jesus and being truly present for one another, putting the needs of others first.
These students are wonderful role models to us all and so we were pleased to recognise their considerable efforts and achievements.
During the assembly we also recognised a very important phase in the leadership life of the College in celebrating the impact of our outgoing student Prefect team and formally installing our incoming senior leaders for 2025.
This important aspect of leadership at AvÐÔ°® Christi, ensures that the unbroken line of senior leaders continues. In passing on the baton, our current leaders charge the incoming group with the important stewardship responsibility of leading our College community.
Led by Head Girl, Kiara Trant, and Head Boy, Hudson Pivac we acknowledge the indelible mark that our 2024 College Prefects have had on the life and culture of the AvÐÔ°® community. Through their selfless actions and commitment, our College Prefects have epitomised true leadership as defined by author and inspirational speaker Simon Sinek when he says that:
“We call someone a leader not because they are in charge but because they have the courage to go first. To risk first. To trust first.†He continues, “The best leaders are also the best followers. They follow a purpose, cause, or belief bigger than themselves.â€
Our Year 12 leaders have lived out Pope Francis’ definition of leadership when he says:
“For leadership there is only one road: service†and “Be leaders wherever it behooves you to be. Leaders of thought, leaders of action, leaders of joy, leaders of hope, leaders of the construction of a better world.â€
Congratulations to our Year 12 Prefect team for their outstanding leadership this year.
I extend my gratitude to all of our Year 12 students for leading our College as the graduating class of 2024. We acknowledge their impact and their legacy in shaping our unique AvÐÔ°® story. These students are all very much in our thoughts and prayers as they navigate the final few weeks toward their graduation and we look forward to soon celebrating this special occasion with them and their families.
In farewelling our current Prefects, we warmly welcomed our 2025 Prefect group and formally commissioned them during the assembly. We congratulate our incoming Prefects, led by Head Girl, Emily Boudville, and Head Boy, Xavier Petta and acknowledge their dedication in stepping forward to lead.
Congratulations to the following students who took the pledge today to lead our College as Prefects for 2025. We wish them all of the very best in their leadership roles for next year and look forward to the positive impact they will have on our College community.
I would also like to acknowledge those Year 11 students who expressed interest in a leadership role but not receive a formal position. We applaud their courage to put their hand up to lead and look forward to their contribution to the College as part of the 2025 graduating cohort.
As the term draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank parents, caregivers and families for their engagement in the College community. We value this important partnership as we work together to create a flourishing learning environment for our students.
I would also like to acknowledge our very dedicated K-12 College staff. We thank them for their considerable efforts in supporting student learning and for providing such a broad array of engaging and personalised learning pathways for students.
I hope that you have the opportunity to enjoy some quality time together as a family over the holiday break and we look forward to students returning to the College safe, well and energised to commence Term 4.

AvÐÔ°® Christi College is proud to announce the appointment of Xavier Petta as Head Boy and Emily Boudville as Head Girl for 2025. Both students have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and a deep commitment to the College’s values.
Meet Xavier Petta
Xavier’s journey at AvÐÔ°® Christi College began in Year 7, and he has since immersed himself in all aspects of college life, particularly The Arts. His involvement has opened numerous opportunities for growth and skill development, and he has formed lasting friendships along the way.
Background:
Primary School: Orana Catholic Primary in Willetton
Inspiration: Inspired by previous head students who were approachable role models, Xavier aims to foster a similar environment.
Vision for 2025: Xavier’s primary goal is to enhance the connection between the Junior and Senior schools, fostering a culture where being “Outstanding for Others†is the norm. He believes in recognizing that everyone’s version of outstanding is unique.
Leadership Qualities:
Courage: Stepping out of his comfort zone and trying new things.
Commitment: Taking pride in his role and responsibilities.
Compassion: Leading with empathy and consideration for others.
Fun Fact: Xavier has worked at Kmart Kardinya for two and a half years an can often be found in the Homewares section.
Favourite Memory: Playing the lead in the musical “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang†and forming bonds with peers from both the Junior and Senior schools.
Advice to Younger Students: “Try everything and make the most of the opportunities and extracurricular activities available. By participating actively, you can demonstrate your leadership skills.â€
Future Plans: Xavier is considering studying Physiotherapy at Curtin University or pursuing Music at WAAPA.
Meet Emily Boudville
Emily’s journey at AvÐÔ°® Christi College began in 3-Year-Old Kindy at Yidarra. Over the past 14 years, she has witnessed the school’s growth and transformation. Emily has always prioritized seizing every opportunity presented to her.
Background:
Primary School: Yidarra Catholic Primary School
Inspiration: Emily was motivated by the chance to make a difference and be a role model, inspired by the prefect teams since 2020.
Vision for 2025: Emily’s priorities include balancing her studies with enjoying time with friends and making the most of every opportunity at AvÐÔ°®. She believes in role modeling as the most effective method of promotion within the school community.
Leadership Qualities:
Courage: Trying new things, such as applying for Head Girl.
Commitment: Participating in extracurricular activities across arts, sports, and academics.
Compassion: Checking up on friends, offering help, and taking time for self-care.
Favourite Memory: Emily cherishes memories from her Year 10 Music class, the Humanities Tour to Sydney/Canberra, and the Year 11 Camino Retreat, where she bonded with friends.
Fun Fact: Emily despises coffee in all forms, running on zero caffeine—a unique achievement among her classmates.
Advice to Younger Students: “Leadership isn’t just about leading; it’s about guiding. Offer guidance, collaborate, and be a good listener. Remember, your job is to serve others.â€
Future Plans: Emily aims to work at Perth Children’s Hospital, specialising in paediatrics, and plans to start her studies at Curtin University in 2026.
Xavier and Emily embody the spirit of AvÐÔ°® Christi College, and their leadership will undoubtedly inspire and guide the student body throughout 2025. We look forward to seeing their contributions and the positive impact they will make on our community.

Attention All Current Year 6 AvÐÔ°® Families
A gentle reminder for our Year 6 families to notify our Enrolments Team, if your child will not be continuing onto Year 7 in 2025.
Sibling Applications
If you have a child enrolled at another school and you would like for the child to join their siblings at the College, (regardless of the academic year), please lodge an enrolment application at your earliest convenience. The College continues to receive an unprecedented amount of enrolment applications so to avoid disappointment in missing out on a place, please ensure you have lodged an enrolment application for your child to join their siblings at AvÐÔ°® Christi College! If you have a child born between 1 July 2022 – 30 June 2023, please apply now for 4 Year Old Kindergarten commencing in 2027. To avoid missing out on a place, we encourage enrolment applications to be lodged in advance as places are limited.

2025 Instrumental Music Program
We’re delighted to announce that applications for the 2025 Music Bursary are now open!
If you are an instrumental musician looking to develop your passion for music, this is your chance to shine. We are looking for strong musicians to fill instrumental positions within existing ensembles. For this reason the bursaries on offer are for specific instruments. Learn to Swim at AvÐÔ°®
AvÐÔ°® Christi College offers a Learn to Swim Program onsite at the Jennifer Reilly Aquatic Centre. The aquatic centre features a covered and heated 25 metre, eight-lane indoor lap and water polo pool, a separate 12 metre learn-to-swim pool and terrace seating for 180 people.
Our Learn to Swim Program is facilitated by Speed With Style, a company who provide a unique approach to swim teaching called Individualised Custom Teaching, which was developed by Dr Nigel Williams in collaboration with head coach and Speed with Style Founder - John Williams.
The Learn to Swim program is available to both AvÐÔ°® Christi College students and those external to the College.

St Thomas More Parish News
Authentic Christian Masculinity and Science and Philosophy of Natural Family Planning: A 2 part seminar is being held this Saturday 14th September from 10am-12noon in the Bateman Parish hall. Children are welcome. Light refreshments follow.
Legion of Mary Rosary and Chaplets at the shrine every Wednesday during school term at 2.30. We invite parents to please join us, even if only for one Hail Mary.
