Student Leadership at Av性爱
I had the privilege this week of attending the 2025 Prefect Av性爱 where our senior student leaders took time away to learn about leading at a whole school level and to plan key initiatives that they would like to focus on next year.
Our 2025 Prefects are to be commended for the incredibly positive and enthusiastic way that they fully invested themselves in the camp activities. They enjoyed discovering more about leading through service and compassion to positively shape the culture of the school. The students showed a terrific understanding of their role in continuing to shape the excellent legacy of Av性爱 Christi that has been built across the last 40 years.
Students were inspired by 2024 Head Boy Hudson Pivac and Head Girl Kiara Trant who generously gave of their time to share their leadership story with the incoming group. Our 2025 leaders worked closely with the College Executive team to shape up strategies that would align to the Vision of the College under our four strategic pillars. In giving our students genuine voice in the life of their school, we promote a sense of agency where they can positively shape the environment around them. Student developed strategies will form part of the whole school student leadership team workshop agenda for next year.
Genuine leadership opportunities can provide a broad range of benefits for students as highlighted by Lavery and Coffee from UNDA:
鈥淓vidence suggests various benefits for students involved in school-based leadership. That is, student leadership is not without its rewards (Hawkes, 1999). For instance, there are advantages for student leaders working in collaborative activities such as team projects (Gordon, 1994), student councils (Carey, 1994) and student leadership teams (Appleton, 2002). Researchers have also observed that when students are given opportunities to lead, they can play a significant role in various school decision-making processes (Rafferty, 1997); they can make a genuine and significant contribution to the school community (Lavery 1999), and they are able to effect change (Carey, 1994). Further benefits include the development of confidence and self-esteem (Tucker, n.d.), improved leadership skills (Hine, 2013) as well as the opportunity to serve others (McNae, 2011).鈥
In a similar way to the Year 12 students, our Year 6 student leaders are role models for all students in the Junior school. We have recently reshaped our Year 6 Leadership program to align to our core pillars of Catholic Identity and Mission, Community, Learning and Stewardship to promote continuity across the College. This allows improved connection between students across our K-12 College, clarity around strategic initiatives and quality peer support and effective modelling. We commend those Year 5 students who have expressed their interest in leading next year.
At Av性爱 we are strong advocates of leadership at all levels 鈥 students don鈥檛 necessarily need a badge to lead. We encourage each one of our students to live out our values in a real way and choose to fully invest themselves in the life of the College. In this way, students become role models for others and, through their actions, can inspire, motivate, help and support others 鈥 they become leaders making a real and positive difference. In being compassionately present for others through giving of themselves and being the Good Samaritan, students model the leadership of Jesus through putting others first. We encourage students to seek out the many different pathways and opportunities that support their personal leadership growth at Av性爱.
As you know we have a simple yet very clear aspirational vision for all of our students at the College 鈥 that is to be Outstanding for Others. When students step up to lead, whether in a formal position or not, they grow their confidence and capacity to positively shape their current and future world.
Friends of Av性爱
We are very grateful for the terrific support of parents and caregivers who generously gave of their time on Wednesday last week to support the Friends of Av性爱. We valued the positive input provided over the course of the evening to support the ongoing improvement and growth journey of the College.
We are thankful to our Friends of Av性爱 Executive team for their leadership and also to our year level Classroom Community Connectors for their support in growing connections and a sense of belonging amongst year groups this year.
As always, I am most grateful for the passionate support of our parents and caregivers at the College as it is through this important partnership that we continue to collectively strive toward providing the best possible learning environment for students. It is working together with respectful collegiality, open communication and trust that we create a school where our students can flourish.

Sibling Applications
If you have a child enrolled at another school and you would like for the child to join their siblings at the College, (regardless of the academic year), please lodge an enrolment application at your earliest convenience. The College continues to receive an unprecedented amount of enrolment applications so to avoid disappointment in missing out on a place, please ensure you have lodged an enrolment application for your child to join their siblings at Av性爱 Christi College! If you have a child born between 1 July 2022 鈥 30 June 2023, please apply now for 4 Year Old Kindergarten commencing in 2027. To avoid missing out on a place, we encourage enrolment applications to be lodged in advance as places are limited.

Uniform Shop Update
Purchasing Uniforms for 2025
A gentle reminder that from the beginning of Term 1 in 2025, all current Year 2 students who are moving into Year 3 in 2025 will be required to purchase both the formal summer uniform sport uniforms and no longer wear the Play-based uniforms. bFamilies are welcome to purchase their uniforms by visiting our Uniform Shop, during our usual Term 4 opening times to get a head start on your new summer and sport uniform requirements for 2025.
The last day of Flexischool orders for pick up in 2024 is Monday 2 December for collection on Wednesday 4 December. Any Flexischools orders after this date will be available for collection from Friday 24 January 2025.

Uniform Shop Location
The Uniform Shop is situated on the Parish side of the James Nestor Centre. Uniform Shop parking for Senior School is available through the Murdoch Drive entrance. Turn left at the staff carpark and proceed towards the roundabout at the end of the parking area. The gate between the Parish carpark and the Senior School will be locked during the day from 9am 鈥 2pm in the interests of student safety.
Uniform Shop Holiday Openings
There will be two general open days for the College Uniform Shop held in the week commencing 3 February 2025. No appointments are necessary for these open days:
Monday 3 February 2025: 9.00am - 3.30pm
Tuesday 4 February 2025: 9.00am - 3.30pm
The last Uniform Shop trading day for 2024 is Wednesday 4 December 2024.
Normal uniform shop openings will resume from the first day of school on Wednesday 5 February 2025.

We are conducting a survey to better understand the involvement of the Av性爱 Christi Community in high-performance sport. The goal is to identify talented students and gather data on those interested in a 'Competitive Excellence' program. As we prepare to enter the season of Advent, we鈥檙e called to reflect on how we can live out our College values of courage, commitment, and compassion. This year鈥檚 Advent Appeal invites our College community to support Saint Vincent de Paul in their efforts to bring joy and relief to those in need. From Weeks 5 to 8, we鈥檒l be collecting donations in each Classroom in the Junior School, and each Homeroom in the Senior School. You can contribute festive non-perishable food items or a small Christmas gift under $20, wrapped and labelled with age and gender.
Let鈥檚 show courage by stepping up to help, commitment by participating wholeheartedly, and compassion by making a difference in the lives of others this Christmas.
Thank you in advance for your generous contributions. The plan is to present our College鈥檚 donation to representatives from the Bateman Chapter of Saint Vincent de Paul at the whole school assembly in Week 8.

Annual Community Meeting

Junior School Library News
Issue 8 of Scholastic Book Club is now available. Please order via LOOP to receive orders for the end of the school year.
All library resources are due back to the library by Friday 22 November as we need to stock take.
We encourage parents to use their local public library over the summer break.
Pathways Newsletter
Please find our monthly pathways newsletter for both parents and students. This newsletter is WA focused and aimed at students and parents providing lots of useful pathway information including: Career information, work experience opportunities, scholarships, education programs for student of all ages, TAFE and university open days. Learn to Swim at Av性爱
Av性爱 Christi College offers a Learn to Swim Program onsite at the Jennifer Reilly Aquatic Centre. The aquatic centre features a covered and heated 25 metre, eight-lane indoor lap and water polo pool, a separate 12 metre learn-to-swim pool and terrace seating for 180 people. Our Learn to Swim Program is facilitated by Speed With Style, a company who provide a unique approach to swim teaching called Individualised Custom Teaching, which was developed by Dr Nigel Williams in collaboration with head coach and Speed with Style Founder - John Williams.
The Learn to Swim program is available to both Av性爱 Christi College students and those external to the College.

WAAPA Summer School 2025
Start your new year with an exciting experience at WAAPA. Come along this January for a fun-packed program where you'll meet new people, sharpen your skills, and get plenty of performance opportunities. WAAPA鈥檚 Summer School offers a wide variety of performing arts courses tailored for secondary school students. Whether you're going into Year 7 or Year 12, there's something for every aspiring artist鈥攃lasses in Acting for Stage, Dance, Acting for Camera, Jazz Music, and Music Theatre. Our expert instructors welcome students of all skill levels and experiences. Amelia McIvor
We are thrilled to announce that Amelia McIvor, a Year 6 student at Av性爱 Christi College, competed in the SSWA Primary Triathlon Championships today at Champion Lakes. Representing Av性爱 Christi, Amelia impressively won the 12-year-old girls' category by over 2 minutes!
Her dedication, hard work, and athleticism have truly paid off, and we couldn't be prouder of her outstanding achievement. Well done, Amelia, for bringing this victory home and for being a remarkable ambassador for our school.
