About the Role 

The College is seeking applications from committed and dynamic Junior School teachers interested in joining a team of passionate educators committed to providing our students with a well-rounded education.  

This is a full-time fixed-term opportunity reporting to the Head of Junior School, commencing 1 January 2025 for a two year Maternity Leave cover.   

The successful candidate will be appropriately qualified and have a willingness to connect with students in the Senior School as part of our Pre-Kindy-12 AvÐÔ°® Christi College story.

Selection criteria:  

  • Proven experience in successfully planning, organising and delivering educational programs  

  • Ability to foster nurturing and positive relationships with students to cater for their needs  

  • Demonstrated competence in classroom management  

  • Understanding of explicit and differentiated instruction  

  • Proficiency with digital technologies and supportive of digital integration  

  • Commitment to continuous improvement, best practice teaching & learning, and innovation  

  • Ability to effectively engage with parents and staff in the interests of students  

  • Ability to work cooperatively and enthusiastically in a team towards achieving a common vision for learning  

  • Initiative, professionalism and tact   

  • Willingness to support the Catholic ethos of the College   

  • Willingness to support the extra-curricular program of the College  

Qualifications required:  

  • A relevant four-year tertiary qualification in Primary Education

  • Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School 

  • Accreditation to Teach Religious Education

  • Current Teachers Registration with TRBWA  

  • Current Working with Children Check

About the Role

As an integral member of the AvÐÔ°® Christi College Diverse Learning Team, the Specialist Literacy Teacher (K-12) contributes to the design and delivery of the range of exemplary learning interventions offered by the College.

Within the context of a Catholic school, the Specialist Literacy Teacher (K-12) is an advocate for principles of exemplary practice to ensure the programs offered at the College are impactful and respond at the point of need for all students. Working in collaboration with the Head of Learning Diversity (K-12), the Deputy Principal Teaching and Learning, the Head of Learning (K-6) and classroom teachers, the Specialist Literacy Teacher (K-12) will contribute to the strategic approach to literacy intervention and personalised learning in response to the ever-increasing diversity of our young people through evidence-based supports and programs. This will include supporting small groups of students in targeted and structured lessons, focusing on the foundations of synthetic phonics, reading and writing fluency.

About You

Our ideal candidate will be appropriately qualified, hold current TRBWA registration and WWC clearance in addition to;

  • Proven experience in successfully planning, organising and delivering educational programs  

  • Ability to foster nurturing and positive relationships with students to cater for their needs  

  • Demonstrated competence in classroom management  

  • Understanding of explicit and differentiated instruction  

  • Proficiency with digital technologies and supportive of digital integration
